![]() ![]() You are only armed with a gun and a sword, if enemies get close to you then you can let them have it with the sword, but in long distances you have two firing modes for your gun. One interesting aspect of the game is your weaponry and aiming. You also can jump and double jump as well. So again this is an on-rails shooter, you have no control in the speed you run and where you can go, but you can move left to right as well as dash in those directions. I think their are 3 control setups, but I used the default setup and that worked out just fine, though I will say that I have never used the L trigger as much as this game. But I think you wlll get the hang of the controls and if not, then their is a Tutorial Mode for you to practice the controls (Please make note, I played this game with the Gamecube controller and not the Classic controller and the game did work very well with the GC controller though with the CC, I don't think it will control so greatly). The setup is very different to any game I have played before and that maybe due to the fact that the game was made with the N64's controller in mind. Let me stress first that before you jump straight into the game to check out the Operations Guide for this game to understand the controls. Detail on the characters and everything around are done pretty well. The ships all look good and so does the water (for its time). One particular level I liked was the level where you are facing the battleships and air fleet. ![]() Again the VO in this game is passable at best and the voice actors do make the cutscenes a little too dramatic for my tastes, though the creature screeches are pretty good. The gun sounds and the effects all sound good and well done for an N64 title. Its very shooter like music if I can describe it in that manner. The voice acting in the game is passable and if you want you can skip all the cutscenes as soon as they start. Along the way they'll encounter other characters that get in their way, but again the story really isn't something that will matter to you. But if you must know a little bit about it, Earth has been overtaken by The Ruffians and its up to Saki and his girlfriend so to say Airen to take them down while dealing with their own hardships. Let me first say that the story in this game is not really the game's strong point, but its just used as a vehicle to move you along so that you can shoot more stuff. At first I thought I was going to regret purchasing it because I started second guessing and thought I should get Mario Kart 64 instead, but I decided to go with S&P for my first N64 VC fix and I must say that I am not disappointed in my purchase. I picked up this game this past weekend and marks not only my first N64 title, but also my first import title that I have bought on the VC. ![]()
